Governor Kathy Hochul on Tuesday named Hudson Valley Congressman Antonio Delgado as New York’s new Lt. Governor. He replaces Brian Benjamin, who resigned after admitting that he withheld information concerning an investigation into his campaign finances from his background check.
A law rushed through the state legislature this week allowed Benjamin’s name to be removed from the ballot to be replaced with Delgado’s.
Delgado currently represents the 19th Congressional District, first being elected in 2018.
Hochul called him the right person for the job, saying public service is his background and his life experience.
