The new Canandaigua Road Bridge over the Erie Canal in Macedon is open today, putting a major Wayne County highway link back in business.
The $4.3 million dollar bridge reconnects Macedon’s business and residential districts. About 5,000 vehicles a day used the old bridge before it had to be torn down and replaced. It’s also taller than the old bridge, so canal boats will have an easier time passing beneath it and it also connects the Erie Canalway Trail.
It’s located between Pittsford-Palmyra Road and Macedon Center Road, just south of the railroad tracks.
