It’s National Night Out Against Crime this evening, with communities across the country and across the Rochester region hosting events that bring police departments and neighbors together.
Greece is planning a separate event this year, Law Enforcement Recognition Day as part of the Greece Summer Concert Series. It will be Sunday, August 13th at Town Hall Campus, beginning at 2:00. Law enforcement demonstrations and the concert are free. Money raised by a chicken barbecue will support the Greece Police Athletic League.
In Rochester, each police section is hosting a barbecue or some sort of event this evening. Irondequoit is hosting its event at Camp Eastman, complete with a helicopter unit, K9 and SCUBA team demonstrations and a free dinner.
The Livingston, Orleans and Wayne County Sheriff’s Departments are hosting events at Geneseo and the other county seats.
