The ex-wife of the man killed in last week’s double murder in Sodus has been arrested. Charlene Childers is not charged in connection with that shooting, but is being held as a fugitive from justice in connection with a case from Texas.
Joshua Niles and Amber Washburn were shot down outside their home in Sodus a week ago Monday. Childers is Niles’ ex-wife. Local media reports say she was charged in connection with injuries to a child in Texas.
Also in jail in Texas on the same charge is Childers’ current husband, Timothy Dean. He was formerly a local police chief in a small Texas town. Texas Rangers say they are working with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office on their investigation. The photo shows Childers and Dean’s mugshot photos.
The slain couple had one child of their own, and custody of Niles’ two children from his former marriage to Charlene Childers.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says only that its investigation into the double homicide is continuing.
