A Monroe County Court Jury has convicted 32-year-old Aries Ash of second degree murder, plus manslaughter, robbery, kidnapping and criminal possession of a weapon in the murder of Maximillion Cook two years ago.
Ash shot and killed cook, then dismembered the victim’s body. Part of the body was found in an abandoned home in Syracuse. The rest was burnt.
Ash also kidnapped a second victim and stole their property on that same day. The second victim escaped.
Ash was arrested after police found the remains and identified the victim. He was captured after a chase with police that ended on Clifford Avenue.
Aries Ash will be sentenced on July 28, 2021.
