The Rochester City Council votes tomorrow night on whether to toss the city’s red light camera program, but about 50 people showed up at City Hall Monday night to make their opinions known.
Most were opposed, saying the cameras that ticket drivers caught running red lights do more harm than good.
Council members arranged the special meeting to give people more chance to sound off on Mayor Lovely Warren’s plan to end the camera program. The mayor says the controversy it generates isn’t worth the revenue the program brings in. At least two council members say they think the program should be reworked but kept on to help protect against reckless driving.
