For the second time in less than a month, a homeowner cleaning out a garage has stumbled over unexploded military ordnance.
Part of the Maplewood Neighborhood was shut down Monday night after the two mortar rounds were found on Seneca Parkway about 8:00 p.m. The man called 911, and the bomb squad responded and secured the World War II-era munitions. The adjacent houses were evacuated by police while the bomb squad did its work.
Last month, a similar mortar round was also found in a garage and turned over to a ballistics team from Fort Drum.
