The injury bug finally bit the Buffalo Bills.

During the team’s 19-17 win over the Cleveland Browns in their second preseason game, quarterback AJ McCarron and defensive tackle Kyle Williams both suffered injuries and NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport updated the status of both.
McCarron suffered a hairline fracture in his collarbone in his throwing shoulder, which was first reported by the Buffalo News. Rapoport confirmed it.
While McCarron has no timetable for return, a broken collarbone can take 4-8 weeks to heal.
Williams went down with a knee injury and per Rapaport, it’s not as bad as it first appeared. Rapoport said Williams’ “ACL was spared,” therefore, he could return this season.
Prior to being injured, McCarron went 3-for-6 for 12 passing yards in the game and was outplayed by both rookie Josh Allen and second-year pro Nathan Peterman. If McCarron’s only slated to miss a couple weeks into the regular season, Sean McDermott could choose to keep him on the team’s roster. McCarron would have a stronger understanding of the playbook than a free agent.
Williams is as important as a key leader off the field for the Bills as a playmaker on it and the team will cross their fingers that Rapaport’s report is correct. Rookie Harrison Phillips or Adolphus Washington would be next in line to replace an injured Williams.
