People packed into a public forum on the future of Parcel 5 at Midtown Thursday night, with more than 80 people signed up to speak at City Hall.
The Finance Committee Chair of the Rochester Broadway Theater League, co- developer of the proposed performing arts center on Parcel 5, criticized a critique of the project from Geva Theater “ill informed and self-serving.” Bill Sullivan said the RBTL will work with Mayor Lovely Warren’s administration to present a full plan for the $130 million development…including financing…. before the end of the year.
Rochester Mayoral Candidate Rachel Barnhart called on Parcel 5 to be for everyone, and said her opponent, Mayor Warren, shut them out of the process by deciding on the theater project behind closed doors. She called for a return to the drawing board and using Parcel 5 as a temporary park in the meantime.
City Council Member Adam McFadden left the meeting calling it a “dog and pony show.”
