Republicans in the state assembly have introduced a resolution to form an impeachment commission over the issue of nursing home deaths and the governor’s order a year ago to release hospital COVID patients to nursing homes.

Meanwhile, Democrats in the assembly are talking about stripping the governor of his emergency COVID-19 powers, which are due to expire in April anyway.

This happened a day after reports that the FBI and federal prosecutors are looking into Cuomo’s COVID task force.

State GOP Chair Nick Langworthy said in Rochester on Thursday that the governor’s time is running out, because both sides of the aisle are calling for true accountability. Langworthy called on Democratic lawmakers including Senator Chuck Schumer to state their opinions on Cuomo’s handling of the nursing home situation.
