From 300 boats, fewer than 20 now call Braddock Bay home. Braddock Bay Marina is in rundown condition.

The Army Corps of Engineers begins construction next week of a new barrier beach off the Braddock Bay Inlet on Lake Ontario. Meanwhile, the Town of Greece is looking to a local family’s business to refurbish and operate its Braddock Bay Marina.

The barrier beach will replace one demolished by big storms 40 years ago. Since then, waves have been gradually filling the bay with silt until the channel is only about two feet deep. Most boats can’t get in or out, and the marina has been decaying as the boaters left. The ecosystem reconstruction project on the bay will restore the channel and hopefully bring back the boaters.

Greece Supervisor Bill Reilich says the town is negotiating with the Daniele Family Companies to renovate and upgrade the marina, and add a restaurant on the waterfront.
