The sentence was 20 years behind bars for a teenager who admitted firing a handgun at a Rochester police officer.

Ernestiaze Moore was sentenced for the attempted murder of veteran Officer Kelly Phillips on Santee Street in February.  At the time, Moore was 16.

Phillips was checking reports of gunshots on the street and approached Moore intending to speak with him. Moore admitted firing at Phillips from ten feet away.  He pleaded guilty in July.

Phillips didn’t fire back and Moore was chased down and arrested.
