Monroe County Elections Commissioner Thomas Ferrarese says things are running smoothly at the county polling places, so far. Some locations were very busy this morning.
As of 3:30 p.m, the turnout rate at districts that have reported their numbers is about 43 percent of registered voters. That number was 44 percent at the same time 4 years ago, and 49 percent in 2008.
Ferrarese says the number of registered Democrats in the county has been growing faster than the number of registered Republicans. That mirrors a statewide trend.
And he says that voter registration in the county this year is at all time high — about 460,000.
