The Monroe County Department of Public Health reported a record number of new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, although they say those numbers are slightly deceptive.
Because of a holiday-caused backlog in the testing labs, there’s a backlog of cases and some of the 1,573 cases reported on Wednesday actually were as far back as December 24th. The lab is working to clear the backlog.
1,568 people have died of COVID-19 in Monroe County and more than 110,000 people have caught the disease.
