Monroe County has joined a national lawsuit against opioid drug makers.
County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says the county has joined 100 other counties nationwide in a lawsuit against companies that make, market, and distribute opioid prescription drugs.
Dinolfo released a statement saying in part “We intend to hold these companies accountable for their actions in order to recoup costs for taxpayers and reinvest in increased prevention, treatment, and enforcement moving forward.”
Abuse of prescription opioids is one factor behind the surge in opioid deaths and addiction.
