Monroe County is responding to the deadly opioid drug crisis with a plan that has the county supporting prevention, treatment, recovery and law enforcement.
Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says the county is also joining other cities and counties in a lawsuit against the makers of opioid painkillers. Dinolfo says the suit is trying to hold the makers and marketers of the drugs accountable for their actions in encouraging doctors to overprescribe the addictive drugs.
Another part of the plan is to work with law enforcement & Emergency Medical Services to centralize overdose data, in order to better track the crisis and decide how to respond.
