Eight Monroe County residents have now died of the coronavirus, according to the Monroe County Health Department.

Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza says two of the deaths happened during the day on Monday.

There are now 257 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 disease in Monroe County, 11 new cases since the Monday morning update. There are 42 hospitalized patients, and the good news is that 76 people have gotten over the disease.

490 people are in mandatory quarantine or isolation.
