The Monroe County Health Department reports 300 new COVID-19 cases since Wednesday, and two new deaths. That brings the total to 309. The seven day rolling average for coronavirus positivity in Monroe County is now 4.34 percent.

This is the greatest number of new cases in one day since the pandemic began in March. County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza says since Monday, the county has added more COVID-19 cases than it did in the entire month of September.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello says the county will enforce the new state COVID-19 regulations due to take effect Friday night, but as for gatherings at private homes, he does not envision deputies patrolling neighborhoods, counting either cars or the number of people in someone’s living room. But he does say he hopes people patrol themselves.
