The Mitchell Road Bridge over the Erie Canal in Pittsford has been shut down for repairs until further notice.
The New York State Transportation Department says a recent inspection followed by an engineering analysis forced them to close the bridge today (Friday). They haven’t worked out how long that will take yet. The bridge dates to 1912 and was limited to nine tons maximum load.
Mitchell Road runs between Routes 31 and 96 in Pittsford.
