Republican Rick Milne has pulled his name out of consideration as a candidate for the 133rd Assembly District Seat.

The Mayor of Honeoye Falls was beaten in this week’s Republican Party primary by a man who died the Friday before the election. Assemblyman Bill Nojay took his own life. Since he won posthumously, the Republican Party Chairs from Monroe, Livingston and Steuben Counties will meet this evening in Geneseo and choose the candidate from a short list of seven or eight candidates.

Milne said in a statement that the “incredible circumstances surrounding the primary have certainly been unique.” He believes attempts to get voters to elect Nojay after his death were unethical, and says he doesn’t believe he would get real consideration from the chairmen. Milne adds he wouldn’t accept the nomination under these circumstances if it was handed to him.
