The new Greece Police Chief has experience with the Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the State Division of Criminal Justice Services, where he’s now deputy commissioner.
Mike Wood will be sworn in next month as the new Greece chief following an announcement Thursday morning by Greece Supervisor Bill Reilich, and approval by the Town Board Thursday night.
Wood becomes the second new chief in a year. He replaces Drew Forsythe, who resigned four days after crashing his town-issued SUV on Route 390 back in October. He admitted in court Thursday evening that he was drunk at the time, and apologized to the community.
Wood said he’s been dedicated to providing top level service and leaving places better than he found them. He says a priority is restoring trust in the department
