The trial of Michael Stagles has been postponed until November 13th, and Stagles’ attorney says he’s still considering whether to have the trial by jury, or a bench trial like co-defendant Erica Bell.
Stagles is the father of three-year-old Brook Stagles. Bell is awaiting a judge’s verdict on charges that she killed the little girl by punching her in the stomach until she suffered fatal injuries. Michael Stagles is charged with criminally negligent homicide, for failing to prevent the injuries and for failing to act while a trip to the hospital could have saved his daughter’s life.
By the time Stagles did take Brook to Strong Memorial Hospital she was barely alive, and died soon after.
