A judge has sentenced Michael Stagles to one-and-a-half to four years in prison in the death of his daughter, three-year-old Brook Stagles. Judge Christopher Ciaccio says he’s recommending that Stagles serve the full four year term.
Michael Stagles was charged with criminally negligent homicide for not seeking medical attention for his daughter while she was dying of internal injuries. Brook Stagles got those injuries from a beating at the hands of his ex-girlfriend, Erica Bell. Bell was found guilty of second degree murder and first degree manslaughter earlier this year.
Judge Ciaccio told Stagles at sentencing that he believes Stagles got away with murder because of a lack of evidence against him.
