A man charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide in his daughter’s death will be released to home confinement on an electronic monitoring bracelet after a bail hearing in Monroe County Court.

Michael Stagles faces trial in August. His girlfriend, Erica Bell, will be tried separately. She’s charged with Second Degree Murder and Manslaughter in the death of three-year-old Brook Stagles last fall. The girl died of severe beatings.

Judge Christopher Ciaccio agreed to a defense request to allow Michael Stagles to stay at his mother’s house pending trial. The judge noted he’s already been in jail for seven months, and faces a one-and-one-third-to-four-years sentence if convicted.

He goes on trial August 1st.
