Trial for the third defendant in the Boys and Girls Club shootings will be pushed back by six months.

Michael Mathis will now go on trial June 12th instead of in January. He was originally to have been tried in the fall, but that was pushed back to January because his attorney, James Hinman, was suffering from health issues. The trial will now be moved back again because Mathis still wants Hinman to represent him.

Mathis is accused of being one of the two people with Johnny Blackshell Jr. when he fired more than 20 shots from a passing SUV into a crowd of people leaving a basketball game at the club on Genesee Street.

Blackshell is serving life in prison. Jalen Everett was convicted, but his guilty verdict was set aside earlier this month after the judge found a juror had learned inadmissible evidence and shared it with other jurors. His retrial will be in January.
