Irondequoit 7th grader Michael Lynch has passed away from the injuries he suffered when he was hit by a car last month on the way to Irondequoit High School.

The 14-year-old had been on life support. His mother, Bernadette, posted on his CaringBridge site “It is with heavy hearts that we  must inform you that Michael Patrick Lynch passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon in the arms of his mother, father and brother.”

Lynch was walking to school when he was hit by a car on Cooper Road. Police say it was an accident and no charges have been filed.

Bernadette Lynch writes “Our family’s faith has been tested but we remain steadfast in the hope of the Resurrection. While we cannot make sense of this terrible tragedy, we trust God’s love surrounds us.  We know that Michael will live on in the memories of his family, friends and those who loved him.”

The family also goes on to thank everyone for their expressed concern and sympathy. A vigil was held in Michael’s honor Thursday night at I-Square.
