Carlson Metro YMCA’s daycare center is scheduled to reopen today (Tues) after New York State’s Office of Child and Family Services suspended its license on Friday evening.
The suspension forced the Metro Y to immediately close the center until the problem flagged by the state was resolved.
In a statement, the Y said the suspension resulted from an incident September 20th in which a three-year-old became separated from her group on the playground. Staff supervising a different group noticed the little girl by herself and brought her inside. Her parents were immediately notified and she continues to be enrolled in the daycare.
The Y says the employees involved have been dismissed and all childcare staff were put through a retraining program over the weekend and on Monday.
