The publisher of several suburban Rochester newspapers and the Canandaigua Daily Messenger is offering voluntary severance packages to its employees.
Perinton-based GateHouse Media has publications in 35 states. The CEO sent a letter to employees, offering them a week of pay for each year of service up to 13 weeks to leave the company. They’ve been given a week to decide, and their last day would be September 13th.
The letter says GateHouse continues to see revenues drop and has to adjust accordingly if it wants to get earnings back into the black by 2018.
