Monroe County Executive Adam Bello has appointed County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza to a second six-year-term. Dr. Mendoza was first appointed by Bello’s predecessor, Cheryl Dinolfo. He shepherded the county through the Coronavirus pandemic, and Bello said he’s been a steadfast partner and leader for the health and safety of Monroe County residents.

Dr. Mendoza said he originally took the job uncertain if he wanted to have it for six years, but now is committed to navigating the uncertainty of the next six years.

His reappointment requires confirmation by the Monroe County Legislature.
