From now on the former mall between Route 104 and East Ridge in Irondequoit is no longer the “Medley Centre.”
The new owners are calling it “Skyview on the Ridge,” and they say it will begin with a cleanup of the property, new landscaping and sealing the parking lot. That will take 12-to-18 months and cost $11.4 million. They plan to seek state economic development funding. Next will come a multi-million dollar internal and external renovation into what amounts to a business and community campus in the center of Irondequoit.
The windows, glass roof and open common areas of the mall will be retained in the rebuild. The developers say there will be large anchor tenants, common space for a community center, and office space for anything from small businesses to medical clinics.
Developer Angelo Ingrassia says he’s been planning this for four years, and he’s confident with the development team of Frank Perticone and Robert Morgan, he can succeed where others have failed.
Irondequoit Supervisor Dave Seeley says he’s got a stack of plans in his office people made over 25 years for a community center in the town. He says it’s the one thing the town has lacked compared with the other Rochester suburbs, and this will fill that gap.
