The Monroe County Medical Examiner took the stand today in the murder trial of Erica Bell, giving more testimony on the nature of the injuries inflicted on the three-year-old victim, Brooke Stagles.

Stagles died of a ruptured intestine, according to the prosecution, after Bell punched her in the stomach. The defense is blaming Bell’s boyfriend, Michael Stagles, Brooke’s father.

Dr. Nadia Granger testified that the pattern of injuries on Brooke Stagles body was like those of a car accident victim. She testified the child would only have lived for two or three days after they were inflicted.

More testimony will be heard beginning at 9:30 tomorrow (Thu) morning.
