Monroe Community College will be raising tuition for the fall semester. The MCC trustees have approved a $180 bump for full-time, New York State students for the 2018 school year. That’s a four percent increase.

The increase was approved unanimously. It raises tuition for full time students to $4,280. The trustees made one addition: they won’t apply the tuition hike next year for students who complete their MCC education in two years.

MCC President Anne Kress says the increase is partly due to declining enrollment, bringing with it a reduction in state funding. They also don’t know what impact Governor Cuomo’s free tuition program will have. Kress believes about $1,000 MCC students will qualify in the fall.
