MCC is apologizing after the college says a lockdown drill was conducted this afternoon without properly identifying it as a drill

Around 1:30, MCC issued alerts via email and twitter stating “Brighton Campus is in lockdown, Seek cover immediately. Await further instructions.” Six minutes later another alert was issued stating “emergency situation is over; normal operations may resume”

Around 3 o’clock, another statement was issued sincerely apologizing for the concern the tweets caused, and saying all future drills will be clearly identified.

Students say they’re usually notified when the state-mandated emergency drills take place that it’s only a drill, but this time that critical detail was apparently forgotten.
