The Mayor of Rochester says she’s owed an apology from the artistic director of Geva Theater…and until she gets one, Lovely Warren says she won’t address his concerns over the proposed downtown performing arts center.

Geva’s Mark Cuddy used the word “naive” during a press conference this week to describe a comment from Mayor Warren about the $130 million project. Warren says she’s offended by that remark, and she won’t address Geva’s concerns over how the center will be funded until she gets an apology.

Geva has issued a statement saying the mayor is taking the remark out of context. It says Cuddy’s point was that Rochester is already rich with theater, symphony, arts and performance venues and will not be defined by a new 3,000 seat theater downtown.
