Rochester Mayoral Candidate Rachel  Barnhart says a lawsuit filed against her by a marketing company is politically motivated.

Growth Marketing Group filed suit against Barnhart’s campaign today (Tues), seeking payment for an unpaid bill of just under $5,000 for marketing work on her unsuccessful State Assembly campaign last year. Growth Marketing is owned by Arnie Rothschild, and Barnhart says in a statement that the timing of Rothschild’s lawsuit… just weeks before her Democratic primary against Mayor Lovely Warren… is an attempt to curry favor with the mayor.

Mayor Warren is supporting Rothschild’s plan to develop a new downtown performing arts center and mixed-use project on Parcel 5 downtown.

Rothschild tells 13 WHAM he’s just trying to collect a debt and doesn’t want to get in the middle of a political dispute.
