A federal appeals court has partially lifted an injunction that blocked the state from granting marijuana sales licenses in much of the state. But the injunction remains in effect for the Finger Lakes Region.
The state can proceed now with licensing cannabis retail stores in Western New York, Central New York, the Hudson Valley and Brooklyn. The suit was brought by out-of-state marijuana companies upset with how New York is granting the licenses. They go first to people who were arrested on marijuana violations during the War on Drugs.
