The Buffalo Sabres 2017 second-round pick will spend at least one more season in Sweden.

It was announced today the Buffalo Sabres prospect Marcus Davidsson agreed to a two-year deal with the Vaxjo Lakers of the SHL. The 2017 second-round pick will spend at least one more year in Sweden before coming over to North America. He has the ability to opt out of his deal after one season.
Davidsson spent the last few seasons with Djurgarden, which included a run to the SHL finals this season. They ended up falling in six games to Frolunda, but it was good experience for 20-year-old center.
The move to Vaxjo will allow Davidsson to play on a top line role next season. He was the third line center for most of the season on Djurgarden.
He’ll also now be under the direction of two-time SHL coach of the year, Sam Hallam. Hallam is a well respected up and coming coach in Europe.
This looks like a good move for Davidsson’s development and it’ll be interesting to see how he plays next season in a new role.
