Tyquan Rivera was 14 when he shot Rochester Police Officer Anthony DiPonzio in the back of the head in 2009. Tuesday he was released from prison, now 25, after serving the maximum he could be sentenced to as a minor.
Rivera was sentenced to 3 1/2 to ten years in prison because of his youthful offender status. He was released on parole in 2016, but quickly violated parole and was put back in prison.
Officer DiPonzio survived the shooting but spent many months in rehab.
