The man who repeatedly stabbed Rochester Police Officer Denny Wright and nearly killed him will spend 40 years to life in prison.

Keith Williams was convicted last month of attempted aggravated murder and aggravated assault for the attack on Officer Wright in 2019. Wright was answering a mental health call at a home on Peck Street when Williams attacked him with a knife.

Family members asked for the maximum penalty for Wright’s attacker. Williams himself spoke in court but his voice was too low to be heard by spectators. Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley said Williams did not apologize for blinding officer Wright.

Wright also addressed the court saying Williams “will not take another thing from me or my family.”
