Police in Canandaigua say a Victor man was on his cellphone when he struck a bicycle rider on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say it happened about 2:50 p.m. on South Main Street near the Byrne Dairy Store. They say 26-year-old Christopher Catt was driving south when he passed another car that had stopped to let the bike rider cross at the crosswalk. Catt ran into the woman, who was flung onto the windshield of his car and then bounced off onto the road.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Catt was ticketed for using a mobile phone while operating a motor vehicle, failure to yield and overtaking a car that was stopped at a marked crosswalk. More charges may be coming.
