New York State Police spent four hours yesterday talking with an emotionally disturbed man in an incident that closed down the State Thruway in Genesee County.

Police had been looking for the Erie County man and his SUV, and spotted it on the Thruway in Stafford. The man at first refused to pull over, but finally stopped and agreed to surrender after lengthy talks with police. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and nobody was hurt.

Traffic had to be diverted off both sides of the Thruway between LeRoy and Pembroke during the entire incident
