Rochester Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man Sunday night in Genesee Valley Park.
Police say they were called to the park pavilion shortly before 10:00 p.m. for a report of gunfire. They arrived to find several hundred people attempting to drive out of the park simultaneously. The victim was in one of those cars and his friends were trying to get him to the hospital. An ambulance arrived and took him the short distance to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the event in the park was a gathering of family and friends for a summer party. They’re asking anyone who witnessed the shooting to contact the Major Crimes unit and tell what they saw.
