Kelvin Vickers, 21, of Boston, pleaded not guilty Saturday to the murder of Rochester Police Officer Tony Mazurkiewicz and the wounding of officer Sino Seng.

Vickers was arraigned in City Court on charges of second degree murder, second degree attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He’s accused of firing from the concealment of some bushes into the van in which Officeers Mazurkiewicz and Seng were sitting while surveilling murder suspects. He was caught about an hour after the shootings, hiding in the crawl space of an abandoned house.

A 15-year-old girl minding her own business in a nearby home was grazed and wounded by a bullet.

Police on Friday executed a number of search warrants in raids around the city, recovering 100 pounds of ammunition plus a number of guns and ammunition. They have not said how these raids tie in to Vickers or his crimes.
