A man said to be in his 70s or 80s was taken to the hospital for treatment when he fell through the ice Thursday on Irondequoit Bay.
Firefighters say the man was walking on the ice when he got onto an area that couldn’t hold his weight and fell through. He was partially submerged in the freezing water for 15 to 20 minutes before he was rescued.
Firefighters say he was conscious during the rescue operation.
