The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a 32-year-old man is dead after he was hit by one of its patrol cars.
The accident happened in Perinton, near the corner of Routes 31 and 250. The sheriff’s office says the deputy was trying to look at a suspicious vehicle in a bank’s parking lot when he hit the man who was crossing Route 31. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
The sheriff’s office says the deputy immediately turned on his body camera and got out of the car.
The intersection was closed for several hours Friday morning as deputies investigated. The State Attorney General’s Office will conduct a separate investigation into the accident.
