A fleeing driver crashed a car into a Rochester Police car early this morning while being chased around the Northeast part of the city.
Police say they were called shortly before 12:30 a.m. for a report of gunfire at Joseph Avenue and DeJonge Street. Responding officers saw a car flee the area and tried to stop the driver, but he refused to pull over. As the driver wasn’t going at dangerous speeds, they gave chase.
The suspect car returned to DeJonge Street where it crashed into the parked patrol car. The driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken into custody and was found to be drunk. He was taken to Rochester General Hospital. Police are still trying to figure out if he was connected to the gunfire.
