Rochester police say it started as a small investigation into drug sales, but a year later had turned into the breakup of a significant drug dealing operation in the city.
They announced the arrest of 26 people in an investigation lasting more than a year, involving local, state and federal agencies, and ending in 28 search warrant raids in the city and in Irondequoit. They seized six-and-a-half kilos of cocaine and fentanyl, 34 guns, and $148,500 in cash.
The investigation isn’t over, according to Captain John Koonmen, who calls it a “victory.” He says those drugs won’t affect somebody’s life by overdose…and those guns won’t be used to further violence in Rochester.
