Lyft says it’s starting up statewide and in Rochester on June 29th. The ridesharing service will start on the earliest possible date now that Governor Cuomo has signed the legislation moving that start date up.

Uber, their main competitor, also says it’s starting on June 29th.

Lyft says it’s beginning operations…but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be ready to start offering trips on that date. Both companies are hiring thousands of drivers and waiting on local governments to announce their regulations for ridesharing services.
