Longtime Henrietta Supervisor Jim Breese died Wednesday at the age of 86. He served for 22 years as the longest serving supervisor in town history, from his election in 1985 until he lost a re-election bid in 2007.

He was a Republican who began his political career on the Rush Henrietta School Board, elected in 1969. He was elected to the Monroe County Legislature in 1972, and then the Henrietta Town Board in 1979.

He’s survived by five children and seven grandchildren. Last summer,  the town board named its newly acquired park land Breese Park in his honor
