County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, Mayor Lovely Warren and other local officials came together at the Open Door Mission Caring Center on Plymouth Avenue this morning, recognizing National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
The week runs from November 12th through the 20th. Open Door Mission says there are real and rising issues of poverty and opioid drug abuse in our community. They include untreated mental illness and homeless school children. Mission officials say we have to find new ways to respond.
Open Door Mission works for the needs of the homeless with meals, hot showers and clean beds, seasoned with a dose of faith.
